In The Outbound Ghost universe, ghosts are embodiments of regret. Most people pass on to the afterlife after death, but those whose lives were unsatisfying become ghosts, forced to haunt the Earth until their wrongs are righted. Of course, this isn't always possible: it's a thousand times harder to correct one's mistakes as a ghost than as a human. However, some succeed and make it to the afterlife.
In The Outbound Ghost, your role is to help other ghosts correct (or accept) their past lives so they can peacefully enjoy the eternity that awaits them. You'll also have to revisit your own mistakes to find peace—a task that promises to be complicated, since you have no memory of the mistakes in question.
